I drove into town via Palmetto Road and onto Bulls Head, saw several trucks on the road but they seemed to be simply going about their business. I saw no evidence of any protests.

They are, apparently, massing in Hamilton as part of some protest action. Not sure what's going on yet, though, but they are definitely up to something, apparently.

That shouldn't stop you from learning how to use our quote function properly. Makes it easier to follow your posts -- some of which, I might add, have been excellent recently! You may have noticed your WF's steadily going up....

Now you've mastered the art of importing avatars and cutting & pasting we'll have to point you in the right direction with regards to quoting... 7T

Just getting in from the Demonstration this morning... RG article here http://www.royalgazette.com/siftology.royalgazette/Article/article.jsp?articleId=7d8ab3230030030§ionId=60We where going to drive round TCD but the police stopped us. We stopped along Bernards Park for a few minutes.. it was at this time I realized that a motorcycle cop was taking all the license numbers of the trucks (about 30). I have no doubt that I will be issued a ticket in the mail for honking my horn in town... but something tells me that more will come of it because you don't challenge the Brown one without taking some licks. Will I get a letter in the mail saying that my Truck permits have been revoked? I would not be surprised. Anyway... A meeting was held (the Minister of TRANSPORT was too busy!!) with TCD officlals who told us letters where mailed to the offending TT Dumpster owners. This is not good enough. We have heard this song and dance for over four years. What they are doing is ILLEGAL. We have evidence of daily wrongdoing. They made an offer... for a meeting to be held with the bosses of offending companies (Corriea, Island, M & M, D&J etc.) so we can work something out.. give us some work. DA HELL?? We The Truckers who are doing things by the book, must go to companies that are breaking the law and beg them for work. The work that by law should be ours? **** that!!! It has been calculated that we are losing as much as $50,000 per day to these trucks. This is not small change. We are not talking about pennies here. Please be advised that there will be more action to come from the fed up GENERAL TRUCKERS OF BERMUDA!!!

I've been thinking... The Premier was asked by the Truckers to come out and explain himself as he is the Minister in charge. It is only his fault that me and my comrades are stuggling. He refused.. instead letting others who are NOT IN CONTROL take the heat... It is the direct result of Dr. Brown that Zane and Dennis etc. get fat at the exspense of my children. I looked around today when we gathered at Bernards park. I saw no foriegn workers.. only my fellow Bermuda Business owners. We hire no expats... when we get paid we pump our money right back into the economy. How many foreign works does Zane have? How many does Corriea imploy? We have lost our way Bermuda. General Truckers are suffering today and harder times are just around the corner. My business is a family business...we have been doing this for over 30 years. My uncle, father work for me. I fear that it will be under my watch that the ball is dropped and I will have nothing to pass to my children. Someone told me that I should respect the Premier!!! WHY? Why when he has showed every possible disrespect to me, my family that depends on me to eat...and those like me. Those who work hard, not to get rich... but just to get by. We MUST succeed NOW!!! Who will be next? It could be YOU!!!!

Let's get this straight: you're expected to go cap in hand to a bunch of big-shot construction company owners - who are acting illegally on a daily basis - and ask for scraps from their tables? Fuck that. Keep up the pressure.

I wholeheartedly second loki's excellent summation there Tranz... to me it would be comparable to asking a female "domestic abuse" victim to go back to the family home and "negotiate" with her violent partner as to exactly how she might hope to get fewer beatings in the future... the logic is totally erroneous and fatally flawed from the outset. The focus should be put onto the source of the problem - not the victim!7T

Not to make light of domestic abuse (a huge problem here), but at least the abuse isn't in public. And they might even get a kiss now and then. Unlike these poor truckers, when the treatment is so blatant. (I'll go do my our at the Women's Resource centre now to atone for that.) Still, a pretty good analogy SevenT.
Tranz, you don't have to respect any individual because of his station. Respect the office, not the man.
